Band practice and tuition

Recently the band practises have been changed to every Friday night at the Band Hall, with learners undertaking lessons from 7.00pm to 7.30pm and band members practising from 7.30 - 9.30pm. Full band practice is also held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month at the Band Hall, which is located near the lake in the Botanical Gardens, Downes Road, Castlemaine, alongside the railway line.

Monthly general meetings are held at the Band Hall, on the third Sunday of each month from the start of February, followed by a full band practice session. Please feel free to visit us during any band practice, as visitors are always welcome.

Tuition is provided to prospective band members free of charge for pipes, tenor, side and bass drum. Prospective pipers need to purchase a practice chanter, which range between $20-$125. The band has bagpipes which can be loaned to learners when they are ready to start playing, and eventually most members purchase their own instrument.

Annual membership fees are set at $10 per person, capped to $20 for family groups.
